Defer all travel to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh union territories, as well as border districts of Gujarat, Punjab and Rajasthan states, until 14 May. Ensure stand-fast capabilities for at least 48 hours. India and Pakistan on 10 May reached an understanding on halting military action. This followed an escalation of bilateral hostilities, with India claiming to have carried out airstrikes on several Pakistani military airbases. Continue to account for heightened security measures nationwide, especially around critical infrastructure such as airports. Follow all official directives, including any movement restrictions.

Avoid a planned demonstration in Peshawar (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province) on 11 May by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan political party. Originally planned as a pro-Palestine demonstration, the agenda of the event has since been expanded to include support for the Pakistani military amid ongoing tensions with India (see separate alert). The exact time and location of the rally have not been publicised. The protest is liable to garner significant attendance and may be forcibly dispersed by the police. Any scuffles between demonstrators and the police would pose incidental risks to bystanders.

Increased drone attacks in HIGH-risk states signal shift in conflict trajectory; defer all travel (Revised)
Continue to defer travel to Sudan, where the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have recently increased drone attacks on states controlled by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). These include Kassala, Northern, Red Sea and River Nile, all HIGH-risk states that had previously remained mostly unaffected by the fighting. Since 4 May, drones have struck SAF-linked targets in Red Sea state’s capital Port Sudan on a daily basis. Similar attacks have recently been reported in Atbara (River Nile), Dongola (Northern) and Kassala (Kassala). They have generally targeted military and energy infrastructure with the intention of disrupting SAF supply chains.
