RISK ZONES

Gaza Strip: EXTREME

Following the events of the 7 October attacks and subsequent Israeli military operations, the situation inside the Gaza Strip has become far more dangerous. An unstable and unpredictable security situation has combined with a fraught humanitarian situation. As such, all travel to the territory should be avoided.

Jenin, Nablus, Tubas and Tulkarm governorates (all West Bank): HIGH

Jenin, Nablus, Tubas and Tulkarm governorates (all West Bank) are more prone to militancy and raids by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) than other areas of the West Bank. These governorates are bases for more radical Palestinian militant groups. They also see regular IDF operations targeting alleged militant members. Palestinian Authority (PA) operations targeting alleged militants also take place but are less frequent.

IDF raids in these governorates are liable to occur with little or no warning and may take the form of short-arrest operations or full-scale, multiple-day military actions. During raids, the IDF may carry out aerial strikes in support of ground troops. Militant groups often clash with IDF or PA troops during operations, often with exchanges of gunfire, launching IEDs or planting roadside bombs.
