Expect disruption in several departments over the coming hours due to scheduled power outages. The National Electric Energy Company (ENEE) has announced that outages on 6 June will affect Namasigue and Choluteca departments from 08.00 to 14.00 (all times local), as well as Guinope and Francisco Morazan departments from 09.00 to 15.00. These outages have been scheduled for infrastructure maintenance after nationwide unplanned power cuts caused widespread disruption in March. Disruption to travel and essential services, including telecommunications, is likely during the outages.

Expect disruption in urban centres over the coming weeks and avoid protests linked to a nationwide indefinite strike. The National Association of Teachers began the industrial action on 23 April to denounce social security reforms. Protesters have erected blockades along the Pan-American Highway and other major highways, and blocked roads in the capital Panama City and other urban centres. In Panama City, protesters will march from Via Argentina metro station to Don Bosco church at 16.00 (local time) on 6 June. Continue to avoid the area near Endeavour Health Evanston Hospital in Evanston (Illinois state) over the coming hours due to an ongoing security operation. At around 20.00 (local time) on 5 June, the police responded to reports of a shooting in the emergency room of the hospital. One person was injured and the suspect has been arrested. The police have indicated the shooting was isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The hospital remains in lockdown until further notice.
