Although most such demonstrations take place in Canada and the US, they are periodically held elsewhere in the region.

Continue to avoid the area around Avenida 1 in Villa Gesell (Buenos Aires province) over the coming days. This follows the partial collapse of a ten-storey hotel early on 29 October. Reports say one person was killed and at least nine are missing. Attempts to locate at least seven people trapped in the rubble are ongoing. Four people have been arrested in connection with the collapse, the cause of which is under investigation. Nearby roads are closed until at least 5 November. Follow all official directives if travelling in the vicinity.

Expect travel disruption over the coming weeks due to ongoing indefinite nationwide roadblock campaigns and plan journeys accordingly. Since 14 October, groups aligned with former president Evo Morales (in office 2006-19) have taken action in support of Morales, who is under criminal investigation. They are also demanding that President Luis Arce resign or call fresh elections. Meanwhile, unionised heavy transport workers since 21 October have established nationwide blockades in protest at the impact of the pro-Morales campaign. On 30 October, Arce said that constitutional powers would be enacted if demonstrators do not remove the roadblocks.

The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) has issued orange warnings (middle on a three-tier scale) for heavy rainfall in parts of Goias, Mato Grosso, Para and Tocantins states. Additionally, a yellow alert (lowest) has been issued for the rest of Tocantins state and parts of Amazonas, Bahia, Espirito Santo, Goias, Maranhao, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Para, Piaui and Rondonia states. Heavy rain has recently affected the region, resulting in a heightened risk of flooding, landslides and power outages.
